Parents in the US city of New York will no longer be able to refuse vaccination for children on religious grounds, this comes as the laws in New York no longer considers the excuse or cause to be legal for refusal of vaccination for their children. Both the houses of the New York State Assembly passed the matter, while Andrew Cuomo, the governor signed it immediately.

This move was made by the New York State Assembly in the United States after the country has been going through the worst breakout of measles in the last 25 years. The new order placed by the government say that the parents in New York needed to get their children immunized against these types of contagious diseases like measles within 30 days, failing which their children would be barred from their schools.

Although the bill was not lauded by some people as they booed and shouted curses as the lawmakers cast their votes in support of the bill. The parents called it as a violation towards the freedom of religion.

A member from the Russian Orthodox Church said that people come to the US for getting away from exactly this kind of stuff. However, the sponsor of the bill said that he was not aware of anything that is mentioned in the Bible, Koran or Torah that restricted the children from getting vaccinated.

The Governor Cuomo said that he completely understands the freedom of religion but such a decision was necessary to prevent the outbreak of disease further. The health officials around the world have called the anti-vaccination campaign to be one of the major reasons for threat to public health. This was due to the belief that vaccines like these could cause autism.
