California Senate Bill 360 put on Hold

The bill named as California Senate Bill 360, that would have otherwise allow the illegal Priests to violate the seal of confession has been kept on hold following the opposition from the Catholic Church. Had the bill been brought into action, the illegal religious leaders could derive the reports of their co-workers confessions about neglect or child abuse.

In California the law already specifies that the priests should report the knowledge of neglect and also child abuse, however, in the current law there is also a loophole that allows the priests to opt out if they wanted in order to keep it a secret if they have learnt and realized about neglect or child abuse during the confession.

Following the negative outcomes the bill was put on hold as it would not get the desired support from the state Assembly to pass the bill.
