As the celebratory festival of Hannukah begin, numerous Jewish community in the US raised objections to the type of content featured in the Doha International Book Fair. According to reports, the 29th year of this book fair is under spotlight owing to their feature of anti-semitic content.
This book fair reportedly featured and promoted books carrying Arabic content which attacked the Jewish community. Spreading falsehood and wrongly accusing the Jew community in several aspects the books highlighted irrelevant and improper truths regarding the Holocaust.
The following books highlighted for directly attacking the Jews were the Talmud of Secrets: Facts Exposing the Jewish Schemes to Control the World’, Lies Spread by the Jews’, The History of the Al-Aqsa Mosque etc.
Apart from these, there were books written by a former KKK leader David Duke, who personally attacked numerous Jews in his novels namely ‘Awakening to Jewish Influence in the United States of America’, The Myth of the Nazi Gas Chambers’ and The Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Purported Temple’.
Now, David Duke is widely known for his anti-semantic nature had taken this chance to allegedly write out false information about the Jews.
This infuriated the worldwide Jew community and as a consequence, this bought into the picture the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). One of the largest organizations the US has to protect the public interest; this league issued a serious complaint to the United States
Embassy present in Doha against the book fair.
Now, the league after confronting the US Chief of Mission and Chargé d’Affaires in Doha, William Grant, is requesting the Qatari government to stop promoting such hateful content in public events like a book fair.
Steps are currently being taken to ensure the removal of these books from the state-funded Doha International Book Fair.
