A new proposed bill that allows extraditions to the mainland China is the main cause that has attracted massive demonstrations to rock the semi-autonomous city. The protestors marched through the city of Hong Kong carrying hand written cardboard signs with a humorous threat saying, “Stop using baton or we sing Hallelujah to the Lord”.

This humorous threat was used for referencing a hymn and the bill that allows extradition to China. Most of the Churches in Hong Kong generally shy away from getting themselves involved in any kind of politics. However, the extradition bill that is now-postponed had struck a nerve along with the local ministries. The main question is about the religious freedom and in China faiths are monitored strictly, but in Hong Kong there is still some freedom of religion.

The new plan to allow extradition has only increased the concern within the faith communities.
