A Muslim Woman in the United States was attacked brutally at a bus stop in Bronx. The victim said later that she was not just robbed of her belongings and possessions; she was also robbed of justice. The victim, named as Fatoumata Camara, whose age is 22 years, accused the District Attorney’s office for refusing to find out and punish all those who attacked her brutally.
Following the negligence she carried out her own investigations in the case in order to get justice. Upon carrying out her own investigations she found a surveillance footage that acts as evidence to what happened with her.
The victim said that the lack of investigation from the authorities forced her to carry out her own investigations. The footage she found clearly showed that a group of teenagers attacked her while she got off at her bus stop. The attackers then kicked and punched her and then ripped off her hijab.
Camara suffered a broken nose and a head injury from the attack. What was even worse is the negligence from the police when they informed Camara that the accusations would be dropped as she failed to identify the suspects from the photos provided by the Police.
She said that the worst thing about the incident was that the police refused from doing its job. She said that it was very traumatizing and upsetting besides the physical and mental pain that she went through as the police did not do anything to bring justice as if her life did not matter.
She added that had she not fought for herself, she knew that the police would let it go. At the moment the Hate Crime Task Force is in charge of the investigation.
